JUST SAY NO -- TO RECONCILIATION
Posted On 03/12/2010 17:19:45 by Solstice

Whaddaya think of this intro to a Vote No petition?

In a desperate bid to ram a government takeover of America's health care system through Congress, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid have turned to a parliamentary trick known as "reconciliation" that will allow them to ignore all dissenting voices and pass, against bi-partisan opposition, their bill with only 50 Democrat votes instead of the traditional 60.

The reconciliation process was created in 1974 so that Congress could move quickly on budget matters, but the Left wants to use it to pass their big government agenda -- starting with ObamaCare.

Ask your friends to do the same, and help create the grassroots outcry against ObamaCare and this last desperate effort that the Left is using to pass it at any cost!

The Democratic leadership pushing the use of this parliamentary trick should listen to the arguments they themselves made just a few years ago against such a move.

They are doing all the things they complained about when they where the minority. Why would you complain about something and then turn around the first chance you get and do that same thing?

They are finally doing the things they promised to do and using conventional parliamentary bullying techniques to do it.  I'm not complaining, coville, I'm cheering them on!

Why are you whining -- does CHANGE really hurt that much?

nic11: Why not reform our ways NOW? It does not matter who is in the majority in congress when the majority of the American people are ready to clean up Washington and we are ready NOW.

Thank you President Obama and your Progressive cronies for waking up the American people and motivating us to get involved in getting rid of the corruption.

C'mon Min, Rush explained it all long ago, weren't you listening -- being Conservative hurts when things change for the better!

Coville:

Did the Dem's get amnesia?  Good video.

But let's just REFORM our ways while the Dems are in majority.

Right.

Phaedrus: there you go justifying "your team's" actions because someone else did it in the past. Didn't your mother teach you that two wrongs don't make a right?

I agree with all the democrats that denounced reconciliation when the republicans wanted to use it and they should stick to what little morals they have and not use reconciliation.

All of you who didn't get what 'Nancy' meant when she said, " let's just pass this bill so we can all see what's in it," must be deaf.  Do you really want a 2,700 page bill, that probably has everything but the 'kitchen sink' in it?  The Dem's are really pathetic.  They don't have the votes, be grateful.  There are ways to fix healthcare, this isn't it and I think a whole lot of Dem's agree.  All of your 'cutsie' remarks just don't cut it.  Be realistic.  Anyone thinking this country is going in the right direction, is living in lala land.

Nice stats and opinions there franny, too bad they're uncited and straight from Wonderland.

We've already provided the forum with reliably sourced information on this subject. AD NAUSEUM!

It's your perogative to ignore it all and call it all lies just like Rushbo did of the CBO last week.   Because he said so.

Man, I'll take that to the bank franny.... LOL

I think the introduction is accurate, Obama is desperate (Pelosi and Reid are just the pawns he will throw under the bus eventually).

As Obama has said “elections have consequences”, well congressional votes have consequences too.

Scott Brown ran as the 41st votes against government healthcare.  Consequence: Obama can’t ram things through the Senate on party line votes.

Pelosi says we need to pass the bill so people can see what’s in it.  What a pathetic way to govern.

78% of the public believe that if the Dem’s bill becomes law it will increase middle class taxes.  So the consequences of the Dem’s votes will be a Republican landslide in the November elections.

Congressional votes have consequences and congressmen want to keep their seats so they’ll vote no.  Then maybe the president will “pivot back to the economy” again and address the biggest issue for most Americans.

Fine, if we can undo all 22 things that were done with Reconcilation in the past.

Otherwise, it is in the rules, and if that is what we need to use to fix the Senate Bill, then fine.
