Privacy Policy

You privacy is of the outmost importance to The People Decide. Because we ask and gather some basic personal information during registration, we want you to be fully informed of how this information is used.

Registration
Some basic personal information is required to register:

Screen name: This unique identification is a fictitious name (alias) created by you. Throughout the time you choose to remain a member of The People Decide, your   history will be kept based on your screen name. Should you decide to have a new   screen name, you will need to register again, but all your previous history won't be available under your new name.

ZIP Code: This is required in order to display pertinent information like Senators for your State and a Representative for your District. Be informed that the ZIP code you entered is accepted as such, and is not validated or cross checked in any way with any of your other personal information.

Email Address: We request a valid email address for two purposes:

Notifications: The website sends out automatically email alerts and notifications for certain events. If you choose not to receive them, please go to Preferences to deselect the option.

Validation: We use your email address to send your password after you register. We feel necessary to ensure that the registering party is a live person and not an Internet robot.

You can change your email address and your ZIP code at any time, from the Settings tab in the Communities area.

 

Additional Information
 We allow you to enter additional (non mandatory) information at the time of registration, so you can better define yourself when participating in the “Outside The Beltway” community activities.  The People Decide does not use any of that demographic information for advertising or any other purpose.
Other information is obtained passively by our system, through the use of cookies. They are used to verify login information and to retrieve your saved personal Preferences. Cookies are not used to track or collect any other information besides what has already been disclosed.
The IP address of your Internet connection is verified at the time of the Registration, to monitor and control the amount of memberships created from a single location.

Communities’ areas
Outside the Beltway has areas like forums, Blogs and others that are public. Any information disclosed in such areas becomes Public Information. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information. Please read the Terms of Service for complete information.

Termination
You can elect to terminate your membership with The People Decide at any time. Simply go to “Contact Us” and send us an email with the subject line “Cancel membership”.
We will contact you via email to your last known address for verification, and then proceed to deactivate your membership.
This action will not delete all your account information. This is to reserve your identity so no one else can create a new account using your username and email address, and also to allow you to reactivate your account at a later date.
